New Adventures

Today my husband and I embark on a new journey.  We are undertaking the chartering of Young Democrats group in our county.  DH has been hand-picked to start our club and I couldn’t be prouder.  Last night we created a facebook page and today we will be working on our wordpress site.  I’m so excited.  I hope this can be something meaningful for him; he really needs a sense of accomplishment and belonging.  I feel like this group of people he’s found in the Democrats has been a life-saver.  Hopefully the relationships that have been built will lead to this being somewhat of a “life builder” in that it will motivate him and drive him towards goals.

Thoughts on Communism

A facebook friend posted this trailer this morning.  At first I stopped it about half way through.  I thought, “This is utterly ridiculous!”  Of all of the things they were saying that were “communist” , when they started talking about the environmental movement I nearly threw my phone across the room.  Don’t these people know that God gave us this Earth and we should take care of it?  This seems like fear-mongering to me. If being concerned for the environment makes me Communist, perhaps I should change my party affiliation.

The next goal that ruffled my feathers was, “get control of the schools, use the as transmission belts for socialism..soften the curriculum, take control of the teacher associations.”  Really?  If you think the schools are run by communists, take your children out!  Put them in private school!  Wait,  I’m sorry.  You can’t do that because starting in 1958 the Communist Party softened the curriculum.  They only taught you what they wanted you to know, so you aren’t educated enough to get a job that would provide the income necessary to send your children to private school.  They obviously brainwashed you into the Conservative Evangelical Christian you are today. They successfully instilled American Exceptionalism as a “value”.  They stifled your intellectual growth so that you are forced to rely on the media and your pastor for any new information.  Thus, you are limited in your horizons.  Stuck.  Secluded.  Sheep.  (Pun intended.)

Which brings me to this goal, “Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion.  Discredit the Bible.”  Now this one took some research (something I’m POSITIVE  the fb friend did not do).  What exactly is social religion?

  •  From my understanding they believe in God and believe in man.  Ok, Baptists, help me out!  You believe in God.  You believe in your fellow man, yes?  You love your neighbor (anyone in need) as yourself, no?
  • You must have sympathy.  Do you feel for your fellow man?
  • You must be inspired.  To become inspired one can participate in “corporate worship”, a very “social” activity. (Just sayin’.)  You know that once you’ve been saved you are called to become part of a church.Acts 2:42

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to thefellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

  • The synergy of sympathy and inspiration lead to efficiency.  I find our local churches to be quite efficient in accomplishing their goals.
  • Clean living is part of social religion.  Pretty sure that’s a pillar of Conservative Christianity.
  • Social service is another facet of this concept.  Evangelical Christians can agree that we are to serve those less fortunate.
  • Social Justice is the one area where I can find a difference between “social religion” and the practice of  “revealed religion” differ.  “Social religion” by definition requires one to find the roots of injustice and make an effort to change the situation.  “Revealed religion” simply requires faith to receive revelation.  My Bible tells me, “Faith without works is dead”-James 2:17.
After all of that research, I’m again compelled to change my party affiliation.  Damn if it isn’t looking more and more like I’m a Communist!
People commented that this was “eye-opening.”  This was frustrating.  It drove me to drink.  Thank goodness DH found $40 in his bill fold!  To leave you with one last quote….”If you don’t like my fire, then don’t come around, ’cause I’m gonna burn one down.”

If you’ve read my blog before you know that it is dedicated to all the things I’m “not allowed to say”.  Today my husband’s words are featured as well…Upon my stating that I was getting ready to smoke while I read propaganda and smell the fear of the residents of the small town from which I hail, he says, “It seems as if you got all the brains in that town.”  To which I replied, “You’re right!  God blessed me because I share a birthday with His only begotten son.”
